kompilieren?

hi,

ich fange grade erst mit python an, wie kann ich das im inet ausführen?
ich habe einen server der python unterstützt, nur wie führe ich die dateien da aus, wenn ich einfach wie bei php die datei .py nennen will er die immer downloaden, muss ich den code erst kompilieren oder so?
oder muss das ins cgi-bin verzeichniss??

wie gesagt, ich fange grade erst damit an, und ich hab noch nie vorher python benutzt ...
also muss ich mich da erst reindenken bisschen ...
