Under the European Patent Convention, the Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office have final-instance jurisdiction with respect to European patents. As part of the Board of Appeal Unit's Administrative Services directorate, the Administration and Business Processes (ABP) department is now looking for a Business Process Application and Data Management Specialist.

The ABP department comprises ten staff members and supports the Board of Appeal Unit's management on a wide variety of tasks in the fields of business planning, human resources and information technology.

With us you will:

- Develop and monitor the generation and validation of complex, non-standard statistics
- Contribute to regular reporting activities, provision of forecasts
- Liaise with BIT and users to define specifications and business processes and serve as a contact point for functional issues for both business and BIT
- Provide expert advice and, as appropriate, practical action on complex operational matters
- Draft functional specifications, including acceptance criteria and business rules
- Transfer and disseminate knowledge in user support-related matters through on‑the‑job coaching, advising and providing training support

Apply if you have:

- Very good knowledge of data analysis and reporting software, for example SAS Enterprise Guide and Tableau, or an interest in becoming proficient with these tools
- Excellent knowledge of office automation tools, especially spreadsheet calculation
- Knowledge of Adobe Forms products (AEM Designer, Enterprise Manager)
- Readiness to work on a wide variety of tasks in business planning, user support and IT
- Patience and the flexibility to deal with a variety of situations and personalities
- Basic programming skills, e.g. in Python and SQL (would be of advantage)
- Diploma of completed studies at bachelor's level or equivalent or – in exceptional cases – equivalent professional experience
- Working knowledge of two official languages (English, French and German)
- Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation

Process
The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of qualifications and relevant experience, supplemented as appropriate by interviews, tests and/or a personality questionnaire.
