Infos über die neue MySQLdb-1.2.2b3 Release:

Good news for Windows users: The Windows build should now work out of the box without any patching or hacking, so long as you are building against MySQL-5.0; if you are building against another version, minor hacking is required for now. As usual, I do not (and can not) make Windows binaries. If you have one to contribute, let me know. Most likely users will want MySQL-5.0 and Python-2.4 or 2.5, which means two different builds. Please build against stock packages (i.e. the python.org and mysql.com ones).

If it makes you feel any better, I don't build packages for Linux anymore either. But then, the Linux vendors seem to have that covered, so I don't have to.

Man muß also dann verschiedene MySQLdb Versionen für verschiedene Python Versionen und verschiedene MySQL Versionen bauen, ja?

Ein Build pro Python und MySQL-Version ist doch aber relativ normal. Wenn beide Projekte ihre API ändern, muss man halt eine Binärdatei für jede Kombination haben.

Na, als ich gestern vom Release gehört und bei SourceForge nur den Tarball gefunden habe, dachte ich mir auch: "Der macht sich das ja wieder einfach". OK, es steht ihm frei das zu tun, aber vielleicht war meine Erwartung von .exe-Builds für Py2.5 doch etwas zu hoch in dieser Zeit...

Wie der Autor schon gesagt hat - er wird keine Windows-Builds mehr machen.

Und um ehrlich zu sein, kann ich das auch verstehen. Warum sollte er sich extra deswegen ein Windows anschaffen? Und ob und wie gut der Cross-Compiler funktioniert, weiß ich nicht.
